In the bleak mid-winter …

…. Well not in Oz!!! there was nothing bleak about yesterday’s weather and therein lies the beauty!! What a fantastic day of blue sky and sunshine for the Milking shed Mid Winter Markets!! In fact at the height of the day, Lisa and her candles were feeling the heat a tad! I hope those of you who bought a Tea-lightful candle went home and lit them last night and enjoyed the delightful glow and aroma … I did!!!

The day was a great success. Many people came from far and wide. Probably the furthest to travel were Kate and Amelia, who came down from Umina to join in the fun!! It was great to meet many new people and catch up with some we hadn’t seen for ages. Some people had seen the ad on Gumtree, some had the leaflet in their letterbox and others had been handed one whilst out shopping, some via Face Book. However they’d heard, the word was definitely and effectively out and a steady stream passed through, many lingered a while, enjoying our delicious homemade yumminess ~ hearty soups (lentil and veggies or thick pumpkin) accompanied by a ‘sausage’ roll, or the mouth watering raspberry and coconut loaf or the gluten free banana bread with a nice cuppa char!

Liz’s Funky Forest Foods, organic vegan delights, were a great hit, particularly her delightful Tira-liz-su, which sold out completely!

Lizanne’s ‘Hand Made with Love’ selection delighted the customers, her pom poms and bunting strings and custom made dolls (plus accessories) were a hit.

One little knitted dolly’s jumper was bought for a pet dog. Didn’t Olly leave looking … quite the picture?!!!

Ceram-tam’s pieces sold like hot cakes … beautifully hand crafted porcelain vases and other treasures were carried away in quirky handmade gift bags made by Tammy’s friend Julie, brilliant!

Sandra’s ‘Papyral Spirals’ really got people talking, they looked absolutely fab adorning the walls inside the house. One of which will be staying put so when you come to the Milking Shed on a Tuesday or Wednesday, you can see an example of her wonderful creations.

I hope the other ‘new owners’ will be as happy as I am with their new wall adornment! The cupcakes in the cupboard swung wide their doors and were enjoyed by many! Thank-you Jody & Co for these tasty treats.

Finally, yesterday saw ‘Mildred’, my ceramic totem-pole, take up her position in front of the Milking Shed. People enjoyed her and the contents of the Shed … my blocks, buttons and cards, all of which were bought, enjoyed and orders taken.

I cannot finish without saying a huge thank you to all my willing workers, those who helped man the food ordering (Ben and Victor), those hidden behind the scenes whizzing up milkshakes and dishing up the nosh (Jody and Victoria) and of course the beautiful servers and clearer awayers!! (Ella and Sally) Also Claire, Summer and Brie for helping man the stalls and doing whatever else needed doing. Millie who helped me at the crack of dawn with setting up the garden, and even after I’d collapsed into bed, was washing soup saucepans – thank you!! To everyone involved, helpers, stall holders, friends and members of the public who came and made it all I hoped it would be … to one and all … I THANK YOU!!!

‘til the next time … Cheerio!
